We're getting ready to do some more plumbing work, to replace the rest of the iron pipe in the house.  This will complete the laundry room project, but will also mean tearing out the wall in Diane's closet.

Last year, the main event was adding a new bathroom downstairs. This area was an unfinished laundry room-- just a concrete floor and exposed pipes.

Bob started by replacing the existing iron pipes in that section of the house, which included connections from the garage, laundry room, and main bathroom. The water had to be shut off at the main for THREE days as the old pipes were sawed off, and new copper piping soldered into place. (Needless to say, it was lots of fun living with buckets for the long weekend!)

The connections for the new faucet and toilet were set up, as well.

Next, the walls studs went up. And the electrical boxes went in. (We had previously had an electrician add another circuit.) And the sheetrock, which was textured and painted on the outward-facing walls, and wallpapered inside the room. We even found some textured wallpaper for the ceiling, which just looks like the "popcorn" ceiling in the rest of the house.

A vent was cut in the overhead heat duct...

Flooring went in...

Fixtures installed...

Hooking everything up, and...
bathroom walls going up

~ Voila! ~

The flooring is just self-stick tiles. But last year, Bob put porcelain tile in the main bathroom. At right is a photo while the floor was still in progress.

And next...?

Hmmm...with all these other remodels, the mistress bath is looking a bit dingy...
